Recognition
In 2010, the entire sports industry grew to an estimated size of $414 billion, over four times the size of the auto manufacturing industry and nearly seven times the size of the film industry.
Endorsements alone are a significant investment in the consumer and retail side of sports. Adidas paid Los Angeles Galaxy player David Beckham $160 million for a lifetime contract. Tiger Woods signed a $100 million endorsement contract for five years with Nike. Lebron James also signed an endorsement contract with Nike that gives him $90 million over seven years.
Similarly advertising during sporting events contributes a pretty penny to the sports industry. According to the Wall Street Journal, 30 seconds worth of commercial time during ABC's coverage of the 2010 World Cup Final cost around $250,000. For the 2006 Torino Winter Games, a 30 second ad cost advertisers an average of $350,000.
The sports industry is not made of athletes alone. Managers, agents, coaches, physical therapists, doctors, announcers, and trainers all contribute to the success of the sports industry. A degree from American Sports University will give you the tools and skills to enter this special workforce and excel.

ASU Returns To Korea and China!
Dr. Harry Hwang and Calvin Lear from the Media Department visited several cities in Korea and China in August and September. In addition to attending a trade show in Busan, Korea to promote ASU [where Dr. Hwang was a keynote speaker], they also travelled to Zhang Zhou in China and signed an MOU with the Shaolin Academy.
Also, further negotiations were conducted with the Chinese Tae Kwon Do Association.
In Beijing, Dr. Hwang launched a marketing and recruitment team and equipped them to begin promoting our university to the local Chinese population. Another team was launched in Yanji, China, a city in northern China where an agreement was reached with Yanbian University to increase our mutual relations.
